Amazon is an online open market e-commerce portal; it’s the biggest online retailer in the United States. In the beginning Amazon was an online book store and later started selling CDs, DVDs, VHSs, video and MP3 0[furniture, food, toys, jewelry and many more. Amazon has separate retail websites for United States, United Kingdom & Ireland, France, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Australia, Brazil, Japan, China, India, and Mexico. Amazon is planning to establish itself in more countries.
Amazon began in the garage of founder Jeff Bezos’ home, now the headquarters is in Seattle, Washington, with over 270 million worldwide active users and around 181.12 million unique monthly visitors, Amazon’s global net revenue is roughly $88.99 billion and the number of employees is 154,100.
Bezos originally wanted to name the company “Cadabra” as in “Abracadabra” (used by magicians), then he liked the name Relentless and now Relentless.com will redirect to amazon.com, the first book sold on Amazon was Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies by “Douglas Hofstadte”, in the beginning if an order was placed they used ring a bell to notify that someone made an order.
